Different Types Of Divorces

By Jeremy Bigman

There are several different types of divorces in the world today. Today we will be talking about some of the main types of divorces that people have.

The first type of divorce that will be discussed is the uncontested or known otherwise as the at no fault divorce. This is the type of divorce that people usually get when they no longer love the other person and would like for it to end as quickly as possible.

95% of the divorces that happen in America today are uncontested divorces. For this reason we will be spending more time looking deeper into the aspects of the no fault divorce.

In general what an uncontested divorce means is that the two parties get together before going to a hearing and split everything. They will usually more times than not have joint divorce lawyers who work for both of them writing up their wants and desires from each other.

Inside of the no fault divorce category there are a couple of different sub categories. The two that we will be spending a little bit of time on are the mediated and collaborative.

The mediated divorce is another type of divorce that falls into the uncontested category. A mediated divorce usually includes the two parties, the divorce lawyers and the mediator. At times the mediator will provide legal information acting as a lawyer and at other times providing validation and solutions acting as a therapist or mediator.

Another type of uncontested divorce is the collaborative divorce. This type of divorce is very similar to the mediated divorce mentioned above. There are a few things that remain the same such as that there are still the two parties, their divorce lawyers, and an adviser. On the other hand some of the differences include that the adviser is more for financial reasons than for mediation. Another main difference is that if the collaboration goes bad then the two parties must obtain fresh lawyers to take with them to court.
