My Top 5 Wedding Reception Menu Ideas

By Sarah Martin

One of the most expensive parts of a wedding is feeding your guests. It can easily cost a couple thousand dollars or more for food, catering, and drinks. The more guests you have the costlier it will get. So what is a couple to do when they are on a budget? This article will give you 5 great ideas for a budget meal.

#1 Make A Meal Out Of Lasagna: One of the best low budget meals you can have is lasagna or some other meal made out of pasta. The beauty of this is that it doesn't cost much, people love it, and it will fill your guests up. You just need a few things to eat with it to make your guests happy.

#2 Potluck: This when you have your guests bring different dishes. It's not ideal for a wedding, but it work when your tight for money. Keep in mind that people used to always do this. There is hardly anything strange about it. Just make certain that you supply some dishes too. Don't expect your guests to bring everything.

#3 Chicken For Meat: Most meats are very expensive. This is particularly true if you want to have seafoods. But your best bet for meat is usually chicken. Chicken is affordable and very popular. If you wanted you could make a number of dishes around the chicken theme.

#4 Forget The Cake: Wedding cake has always been more about tradition then actual flavor. Many people don't even eat the cake. This means allot of it will go to waist. Consider alternatives that are much cheaper. Some people are having cupcake weddings or even pudding!

#5 Setup A Bread Bar: This is an idea that I really like. What you do is setup a table full of different types of breads. This could be bagels, buns, and other types of breads. You could allow people warm the bread or even toast it. Have different spreads for them to put on it. I'm telling you your guests will love this.

If you follow my advice here you shouldn't have too much of a problem saving money on your wedding reception meal. Sometimes you just need to think a little outside the box and come up with a few original ideas. By doing so you will often save yourself a fair bit of money.
