Questions to Answer Before Saying I Do

By Mary Ann Tordecilla

Singles always ask the million dollar question: How do you find your soul mate? Of course, this seems to be a simple questions but a very hard one to answer. No one really has a concrete answer of who is perfect for us.

But as singles, you have to take note too that if you are in the stage of dating or in a new relationship, you always have to note some characteristics that make up a perfect partner:

1. Values Every one of us has values that we have grown up with. These values are evident to who we are and what we have become. So if you are dating someone or is in a relationship with someone, try to see and know their values and the core value they have. The core value is the most important thing to focus on since this tells the whole character and personality of your partner.

For example, the core value of your partner is centered on solving problems. Your partner may be very active giving advice to people and telling them what to do to solve their problems. In a way, this is a good value. But then in a relationship, this can also be a hindrance. Most of the times, when people are fond of solving other's problems, they tend to forget to solve their own. You have to make sure that this core value is resolved or met halfway before ever deciding to settle down.

2. Treatment Know if your partner really treats you well. How to figure this one out? Try to observe him/her in front of people who he/she does not really know or close with. Observe how he/she handles them and how he/she treats them. In a way, you can see how your partner is like in front of people he or she cares less. When you get married, you have some idea on how he/she will treat you.

3. Communication In all aspects of relationship, this is a very important factor. You have to know if your partner is interested to communicate with you, meaning your partner should have time to talk and listen to what you have to say or want to discuss. Constant communication can really save you your relationship a lot.

4. Chemistry Love really needs chemistry. You also have to know if you two are really attracted to each other or just living with each other because you are used to the habit. These two things are different.

In addition, you also have to trash the thought of physical attraction. When you and your partner are physically attracted to each other, time will pass by and you lost this attraction. It is important to consider your real chemistry and that is if you are really attracted emotionally. The next time you date someone or is in a relationship with someone, you have the guidelines to know whether this partner is your true and lasting love. Happy searching!
